Advantages of Turbochargers

In turbochargers the exhaust gas energy which would normally be wasted is used to drive a turbine, which in turn drives a compressor to deliver compressed air to the engine.

The advantages of a turbocharged engine are:

•  lower fuel consumption
•  lower emissions
•  better torque characteristics
•  lower weight and smaller engine package
